4media group is excited to announce that one of its Public Service Announcements (PSAs) received an Honorable Mention in the Public Awareness/Service Video category in Ragan’s Video, Visual & Virtual Awards. These awards celebrate the innovators behind the most creative and impactful visual storytelling, videos and virtual events.

Collaborating with First Book and the New York Life Foundation, 4media group’s creative video production team created three PSAs focused on increasing awareness and understanding around childhood grief. The goal was to help young people and their families navigate this profound experience with greater support.

The PSA series, inspired by New York Life’s “Kai’s Journey” book series, serves as a valuable resource for grief support and awareness through storytelling. These PSAs were designed to empower and equip those working with bereaved children and families by highlighting resources from First Book and the New York Life Foundation, while also sparking a national conversation on childhood grief, an often-overlooked issue.

The first PSA in the series, featured here, is the winner of the Honorable Mention award. The PSA focuses on a young child coping with the loss of her mother, and with the help of her father, she finds comfort in the pages of a book from the “Kai’s Journey” series.

4media group managed the entire production process on behalf of the teams at First Book and New York Life, including storyboard creation, original animation, scripting and auditions for voice over artists.

“Creating new characters to complement the beloved ‘Kai’s Journey’ book series was a privilege. We spent hours discussing clothing and hairstyles to ensure these characters would stand the test of time,” said Jodie Nicholes, SVP of Production Services at 4media group.

“Having the opportunity to create and tell important stories in meaningful and creative ways is very fulfilling as a storyteller,” added Samantha Avent, Senior Producer of Creative Video at 4media group.
